Shannon Weiss attained her BFA in Filmmaking at Long Island University, where she graduated as the Salutatorian in 2009. Her narrative films, such as Long Way Home (Best Editing, LIIFE) explored new ways of telling visual stories while her documentaries, including Housing Works, Inc. and Nowhere Children were tools for advocacy in the fight against homelessness, AIDs, and children's suffering.
After acquiring her MFA in Film and Television at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Weiss moved to Los Angeles, where she began a close and ongoing relationship with American Cinema Editors. After completing the organization's esteemed internship program, Weiss went on to work as an Assistant Editor and Editor on Union and Independent projects. Weiss' credits include Lifetime's Devious Maids, Marvel's Agent Carter and Warner Bros.' fan-favorite Supernatural, which holds the record for longest running Sci-Fi/Fantasy series of all time. She was very excited to then join the team of Legacies, a spinoff series within the world of The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Tune in to the new season on CW.
Having honed her creative intuition and equipped with cutting edge technical expertise, Weiss embarked on a new venture. At Educational Partners International, she created research-driven content that empowered a world class community of teachers to lead with empathy in the classroom. Working in the field, Weiss captured the diverse human stories at the heart of the Department of State's Cultural Exchange Program. Most recently, Weiss relocated to Atlanta, Ga, to join the global team of experts at McKinsey & Company. During her tenure, she navigated toward purpose-driven media projects centered around diversity, equity and inclusion, sustainability, and social impact.

Weiss dedicates her spare time to several causes, editing documentaries for non-profit organizations such as Flying Kites, The Sally and Dick Roberts Coyote Foundation and Children International. She is a passionate volunteer, building houses with Habitat For Humanity, planting urban forests with Trees Atlanta, donating to several environmental organizations and upholding voting access as an election poll worker.
